I began my career in marketing within the leisure and sports sectors – an opportunity to work in Australia prompted a change whereby I could follow my lifelong passion for nature – particularly anything with wings! After returning to the UK, I studied Ecology and Environmental Science at the University of Gloucestershire whilst volunteering with the RSPB, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and Cheltenham Borough Council. Since graduating, I have worked as a Grounds Warden on the banks of the Severn with the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust at Slimbridge, and latterly with the National Trust as an Area Ranger in the Cotswolds National Landscape. I conduct breeding bird surveys for British Trust for Ornithology and winter bird surveys for the Gloucestershire Naturalist Society.
In 2025, I returned to the Severn once more—this time as an ecologist with Severn Rivers Trust. My role involves ecological surveying, practical land management recommendations and supporting project delivery throughout the catchment. I am motivated by a passion to protect and enhance wilder landscapes bursting with life. I believe strongly in the benefits of collaborative approaches with engaged local stakeholders.
