Invitation to Tender: Wetland Creation at Worthen Hall, Shropshire

Severn Rivers Trust is inviting suitably qualified contractors to submit tenders for the construction and delivery of a Natural Flood Management scheme at Worthen Hall Farm, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY5 9HN.

This project forms part of the Rea Brook Demonstrator Project within the wider Severn Valley Water Management Scheme and is funded by Shropshire Council.

About the project

The scheme will reconnect sections of the floodplain and create a network of wetlands designed to slow and store water during high flow events. The works will deliver natural flood management benefits while enhancing local habitats.

The project includes:

  • Floodplain reconnection and overflow channel excavation

  • Wetland, pool and scrape creation

  • Spoil management and site reinstatement

  • Outfall works and reconnection to the Rea Brook

  • Associated environmental protection measures

Contractors will be expected to work collaboratively with Severn Rivers Trust to refine construction methods while complying with the approved design intent and statutory consents.

Works are scheduled to take place in August to September 2026 to avoid ecological constraints.
