Donate to a Season of River Restoration

Supporting the winter restoration work that creates habitat and improves rivers across the Severn.

About this appeal

What is A Season of River Restoration?

Donate to 'A Season of River Restoration' to support the winter work already underway across the Severn. Winter is our busiest period for river restoration, and our teams are out on the ground delivering practical work that improves habitats, slows the flow and supports wildlife. This appeal invites people to support the work that is happening now, while conditions allow.

Why winter matters

The colder months provide the conditions needed for tree planting, installing natural flood management features and making habitat improvements with minimal disturbance. Much of this work simply can’t happen at other times of year, which is why winter is so important for long-term river health.

What your support helps us deliver

Donations support the winter work already taking place across the Severn, including habitat creation, tree planting and natural flood management. Each contribution helps our teams make the most of this short but busy delivery window!

Give as a Christmas gift

If you would like to donate on behalf of someone else this Christmas, we can provide a personalised digital certificate to print or send. It’s a meaningful option for anyone looking for a thoughtful last-minute present.

Thank you

Your support makes a real difference during this crucial season of restoration. Together, we can improve more rivers across the Severn.

How your support strengthens winter restoration

Winter is a short but vital delivery window for river restoration, and having the right support at this time of year makes a real difference to what we can achieve. Donations to Severn Rivers Trust help us respond quickly to good conditions, reach more sites and carry out work that improves the resilience of rivers across the Severn.

Your support helps us:

  • Install more natural flood management features in priority locations.

  • Plant trees where they stabilise banks and provide long-term habitat.

  • Enhance existing sites with additional woody features and habitat improvements.

  • Work with more landowners who are ready to make positive changes.

  • Carry out essential follow-up work that protects recent restoration efforts.

These practical actions often appear modest on their own, but together they play an important role in improving how rivers function and the habitats they provide. Winter gives us an opportunity to complete work that supports rivers for many years to come, and flexible funding helps us make the most of the season.

If you’d like to see examples of the kinds of improvements supporters help make possible, the gallery below shows recent restoration work from across the Severn.
