On 22 March, 2021, we celebrated World Water Day. The theme of activities this year is 'valuing water'. The value of water is about much more than its price – water has enormous and complex value for our households, food, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment.
To mark the occasion, our Head of Land Management Melissa had a catch up with our friends at the Future Forest Company to discuss the vital role water plays in supporting forests and woodlands, and the role of trees in addressing the global water crisis.
What role does water play in the forest?
Why is water important to forests?
How does water affect trees differently?
Does planting new forests change the water in the area?
